No News is Good News
But why post a blog? Well, I do want to keep an updated list of job applications posted here, and Mark sent off a few more this week. They went to:Ripon College, Ripon, WI
University of Wisconsin, Osh Kosh
High Point University, High Point, NC
Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, FL
CSU, Cleveland, OH
Other than that, we are enjoying the first cool weather here. Despite rain all around us, central Texas has been through quite a drought. It basically hasn't rained here in months. Well, it rained this week as well as cooling off and we are happy to be out of shorts and wearing socks again.
I've been enjoying my pottery class and made a huge score on craigslist and picked up a free potter's wheel in great shape. I set up studio in our carport and have made some things. Our landlord/ next-door-neighbor saw me throwing a pot and asked me if I wanted a kiln. He just happened to have one he wasn't using and gave it to me, so now I have a complete pottery studio. That all happened in one very lucky day.
I've been knitting some, and at first everything would end up with one too many mistakes and I'd just take it off and start over, but now I am actually on a roll and making some cool stuff.
Since my pottery class ends next Monday, I signed up Mojo for a class that meets on Monday nights as well, starting the following week. It is a prep class for him taking his Canine Good Citizen test. It should take his training to the next level. When we got him I set a goal of having his Canine Good Citizen certification by his first birthday (Jan. 28th, same as Barb's). It now looks as though that goal may be acheived, despite the fact that his training has been languishing the last couple of months. So, that's kind of exciting.
Finn's doing great. He's just himself, at this point, sometimes sleepy and oh so cute, sometimes silly and he ROARS and honks, sometimes tired and fussy, sometimes in his own world playing with toys or his blankets or his hands. One of the most fun things for Mark and me these days is his laugh, which has really developed. When Finn and I returned from seeing my Memaw and he saw Mark for the first time in a couple of days he laughed with glee for five minutes. It was super cute. He also tends to do it when Mark gets home from work, too. How sweet is that?
We had a follow-up visit with the Dr. today about a mysterious mark on Finn's leg. The best I can describe it is like a bruise, except that it has little red lines and dots (capillaries) and it has been there for about 10 weeks. It does seem to fade and then come back. It is a perfect circle and is on the front of his shin about the size of an oreo. The Dr. doesn't know what it is, but he thinks it is kind of like a birthmark, although it isn't like any of the typical ones. But it is sort of like the vascular birthmarks he says. It may disappear over time or not. He says it probably wont' cause any harm, and if it grows or something we might go to a pediatric dermatologist. The other thing is, I put some Arnica oil on there (herbal remedy for bruising) and it went away. When I stop using the Arnica it comes back. So, I guess I'll try that for a while and see if I can get it to go away. Either way, it doesn't seem like anything to worry about.
Mark seems to be doing great. He loves his new computer and he loves playing WOW. He's doing great at school. I can tell he is in the zone and really rolling. He's doing very well as a dad, too. Now that I think of it, he seems to be balancing things amazingly well. He even washes dishes most days!
Well, that really is about everything. I hope you are all doing well!
